Byes :

Deux byes maximum. Les byes se gagnent par des GPT, par les points de Planeswalker, par les niveaux de joueur professionnel, ou en étant membre du Hall of Fame. Les byes de l'équipe correspondent aux byes du joueur qui en a plus.

Jour 1, scellé :

12 boosters, avec lesquels il faut construire 3 decks de 40 cartes et 3 sideboards séparés et assignés à chaque joueur. 20 minutes pour lister, 60 minutes pour construire les decks.
Chaque joueur a une lettre (A, B et C) et affronte le joueur de l'équipe adverse avec la lettre correspondante.
La communication est libre à tout moment entre les membres d'une équipe, que ce soit pendant la construction ou le jeu, sauf si un membre quitte la zone de son équipe.
La première équipe à remporter deux matchs gagne la ronde et trois points. Si aucune équipe n'a gagné deux matchs d'ici la fin de la ronde, chaque équipe gagne un point.
Toutes les équipes à X-2 ou les 30 meilleures équipes, selon ce qui fait passer le plus de monde, font jour 2.

Jour 2, booster draft :

Des tables de 6 rassemblant à chaque fois deux équipes, placées de la façon A B A B A B. Communication interdite pendant la draft. La construction et les parties se font en commun comme durant le jour 1 et la communication redevient autorisée. 15 minutes pour lister, 30 minutes pour construire 3 decks, chaque joueur gardant le pool qu'il a drafté.
Trois drafts sont organisés, et lors de chaque draft, on joue contre le joueur qui a la même lettre que soi, puis contre un joueur au hasard de l'équipe adverse (donc 2 rondes contre chaque équipe, pour un total de 6 rondes).

Finale :

Cut au top 2, et un draft final entre les deux meilleures équipes. Le draft final se joue jusqu'à ce qu'une équipe ait gagné 5 matchs (il est donc possible de rencontrer les 3 membres de l'équipe adverse si nécessaire).

The excitement of the three-person team format comes to the European Grand Prix scene this March. Grab two friends and join in the fun at what is sure to be one of the biggest events on the 2013 Magic calendar.

Utrecht, the fourth biggest city of The Netherlands, was once the capital of Kingdom Holland. It is currently the most booming city of the country. Utrecht is known as a student city with a large population of young, single people. This results in a great nightlife with many places to dance, drink, and eat.

Don't forget to go up the Dom Tower, the highest church tower in the Netherlands, or relax in the cloister gardens next to it. Or perhaps you want to rent a canal bike and pedal your way around the canals? In the evening, be sure to check out the Oudegracht lower docks.

Best of all, there are many stores near the Oudegracht that sell board games, card games, war games, role-playing games, and fantasy and science-fiction books.

The Magic: The Gathering Grand Prix tournament series is a great reason to step up your game, catch up with old friends, meet some new ones, and play Magic. Grand Prix tournaments are world-wide open events that allow all Magic players to participate and experience the thrill of a large-scale competition over three days. In addition to cash prizes, a high Planeswalker Points multiplier, and exclusive foil promo cards for participants, the Grand Prix features a host of other activities, including side events and artist signings. Side-event tournaments begin Friday, with the Grand Prix main event running Saturday and Sunday. Find out more about the Grand Prix tournament schedule here.

The main tournament at Utrecht is open to Magic players of all ages.

Players must have a signed publicity release form to be included in Wizards of the Coast's official online event coverage. Forms can be downloaded here (15k PDF) and will be available onsite. Minors must have a parent or guardian's signature on this form. Publicity releases will be handed out and collected during the players meeting on Saturday morning.

The Head Judges for this event will be Jurgen Baert and Kevin Desprez. The Regional Judge Coordinator is Richard Drijvers. Judges interested in working at this event should submit an application through the Magic judge website .

More Information on Grand Prix Byes

Byes earned through Planeswalker Points are calculated using the Planeswalker Point totals from all reported events as of the Wednesday immediately before the Grand Prix. (For Grand Prix Utrecht, the cutoff date will be March 13.) Points earned in tournaments held at the Grand Prix event site do not count toward earned byes at that Grand Prix. Byes will be given to players in the Grand Prix based on the following criteria:

Second-Round Byes

• Teams with at least one member who has won a Grand Prix Utrecht Trial tournament.
  
• Teams with at least one member who has accumulated at least 1,500 Planeswalker Points in the 2012 Seasonal Award Season #3 (August 20, 2012 – December 16, 2012)
  
• Teams with at least one member who have accumulated at least 1,500 Planeswalker Points in the 2013 Seasonal Award Season #1 (December 17, 2012 – March 17, 2013)
  
• Teams with at least one member with a 2012-2013 Pro Tour Players Club level of Gold or Platinum
  
• Teams with at least one member that is a member of the Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame

First-Round Byes

• Teams with at least one member who has accumulated at least 750 Planeswalker Points in the 2012 Seasonal Award Season #3 (August 20, 2012 – December 16, 2012)

Trial winners
Winners of a Trial tournament are awarded 3 byes in the Grand Prix that it feeds. Trial byes are not cumulative with other byes and do not pass down. Byes are not cumulative throughout the season or year. Byes do not pass down under any circumstances. Players who accumulate multiple byes to a particular Grand Prix tournament receive only the bye for the greatest number of rounds. Along with the main event, there are additional side-event tournaments to play in at a Grand Prix. Listed below are the side events offered at all Grand Prix on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Last-Chance Trials
Earn a valuable Second-Round bye by winning one of the Last-Chance Trials. For more info, check out the Byes section of this page.

"Foiled Again"
A straight Swiss tournament lasting three or four rounds. Participants get 1 past promo card for playing, then one additional promo card per match win. Format varies by event.

Saturday
Value Drafts
Enjoy a special discount on pick-up drafts on Saturday. Actual times and prices vary by event.

"Rebound" Event
Format at organizer's discretion. The winner(s) earn free entry into the "Super Sunday Series" (see below). Players who also played in the main Grand Prix tournament will get a discount for entry.

Sunday
Super Sunday Series
Two Super Sunday Series tournaments will be held at each Grand Prix, one Sealed Deck and one Standard. The Top 4 players from each will proceed to play in the Super Sunday Series Final Booster Draft. The Top 4 players in Super Sunday Series Final will each be awarded a special Grand Prix messenger bag. The winner of the Super Sunday Series Final will earn an invitation and travel award for the Super Sunday Series Championship, to be held in January 2014 in Seattle with a prize purse of $20,000. The Super Sunday Series Championship experience also includes a tour of Wizards of the Coast, dinner with Wizards employees, and more. (Details about the Championship will be announced later in 2013.).

Magic Game Show
On Friday at 8 p.m. we start the Magic Game Show starring Richard Hagon. Registration is free and you can win some cool Magic goodies. Teams can be comprised of between 1 and 4 people.

Trading
Although trading is both allowed and encouraged, please note that there are some rules:

Mark Tedin
Born in Alaska, Mark received a master's degree in fine arts at Washington University, and started freelancing for Wizards of the Coast as one of the 25 original artists for Magic: The Gathering. In addition to his card art, he has also worked as a conceptual artist. He has also taught illustration, visual composition, and figure drawing.
